Senior Finance Manager

The Senior Finance Manager is responsible for the management of all operational aspects of the finance function. He/she is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day finance aspects of the Group, and reporting to upper management on all financial, accounting and tax issues for the Group. He/she assists management in the strategy and implementation of the finance and tax strategy, aids in defining objectives and forecasts, and analyses discrepancies between budgets and actuals. 

MISSION:

  • Oversee all group accounts and investments
  • Create quarterly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts and propose solutions to address discrepancies
  • Prepare procedures and management tools for management and investor/shareholder reporting (reporting tools, tables, indicators, etc.)
  • Prepare budgets/forecasts:  definition of procedures, analyse and synthesis of budgets
  • Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and preparing internal reports
  • Supervise and manage outside accounting firms and other financial experts
  • Responsible for preparing year-end and half-yearly accounts and consolidated accounts
  • Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported
  • Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation
  • Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
  • Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports
  • Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities
  • Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies
  • Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting and budget procedures, guidelines, and accounting standards
  • Responsible for implementing procedures and preparation of filings and reports for French and Spanish research tax credits
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with requirements for JEI and CIR status
  • Participating in grant applications and for controlling and reporting on finance aspects of awarded grants
  • Report to the General Counsel and CEO with timely and accurate financial information
  • Assist the General Counsel and CEO in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Fluent written and spoken English essential.  Spanish a plus
  • Internationally minded, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (excel, powerpoint, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Solid written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Hard-working and proactive

Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master 2) in Finance, Audit and Accounting or equivalent
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in financial controlling or accounting
  • Experience in the life sciences sector preferred
